Agentic Workforce in Malaysia: How to Train Staff to Work With Digital Workers

Agentic AI is no longer a 2027 conversation. Here is how Malaysian companies are using HRDF to upskill teams to brief, supervise, and trust Digital Workers in production.

By the start of 2026, the live conversation in HR offices across Klang Valley shifted from "how do we train staff on ChatGPT" to "how do we train staff to work with agents that do the actual work." That shift has implications for L&D, governance, and — practically — your HRDF claim.

What is an agentic workforce, exactly?

An agentic workforce is a fleet of AI agents — Digital Workers — that execute multi-step work end-to-end. Unlike a chat assistant that drafts an email when asked, a Digital Worker reads a queue, decides what to do, calls the systems it needs, and either completes the task or escalates it to a named human owner.

For a Malaysian operations leader, that is the difference between "my team uses AI sometimes" and "AI is now an additional team member with a clear scope of work and a manager."

Why this changes how you train

Old AI training programmes taught prompt engineering. Agentic training has to teach three new skills:

  • Briefing. Writing clear, complete instructions with goals, constraints, tools, and escalation paths.
  • Supervising. Designing approval gates, evaluations, and rollback patterns so the business stays in control.
  • Operating. Running a daily/weekly review of what the agent did, where it was wrong, and what to fix.

Three Malaysian patterns we are seeing

1. Customer support triage

A Digital Worker on WhatsApp Business handles tier-1 queries in EN, BM, and Mandarin, escalates anything sensitive to a human, and writes up the case in your CRM. Common in 3PL and consumer services.

2. Operations exception management

Manufacturing planners deploy an agent that watches the ERP, flags supply gaps, and drafts the recovery plan. The planner reviews and approves — instead of pulling reports for two hours every morning.

3. Back-office finance & HR

An agent processes claims, leave applications, or reconciliations end-to-end, escalating anomalies to a named human. Trained well, this clears whole categories of repetitive work off the team\'s plate.

What HRD Corp claims look like for agentic training

Agentic Workforce programmes are structured as standard HRD Corp Claimable Courses under SBL-Khas. The wrinkle is that the most useful format is not a single 5-day intensive — it is a 3-day intensive followed by 4 weekly half-day labs, where trainees actually deploy and supervise their first Digital Worker. That format is fully claimable when it is filed as a single multi-session cohort.

What to ask your trainer

  • Will trainees deploy a real Digital Worker into our tenant during the cohort, or just talk about it?
  • What happens to the agent after the trainer leaves — who owns it?
  • How do you bake PDPA controls and customer disclosure into the agent design?
TrainHRDF runs agentic cohorts on the Teragrid Ai platform. Every trainee leaves with a live Digital Worker in your tenant — not just slides. Claimable under SBL-Khas; ask for the cohort outline.
